The parliamentarians will resume work on January 17, according to an order made by Parliament Speaker Zinaida Grechanyi. The first plenary sittings will be held on February 6-7, IPN reports.
After the meeting with President Igor Dodon and Premier Ion Chicu, Zinaida Grechanyi told the press that the Parliament’s Secretariat works and the legislative body is functional. The MPs will return to work in two days. They are to agree the agenda for the first plenary sittings, while the priorities will be set by the Parliament’s Standing Bureau.
“The monitoring by the standing commissions of the adopted laws, especially of those passed at the end of last December, including the social and economic ones, will be a priority for Parliament. We must monitor their implementation and this will be done publicly, including within the parliamentary commissions,” said the Speaker.
The last sitting of the autumn session of 2019 was held on December 20. Under the Regulations, Parliament has two ordinary sessions a year. The spring session starts in February and ends in July at the latest. The autumn session lasts from September through December.
