The defections of MPs from the parliamentary group of the Democratic Party of Moldova (PDM) are an instrument by which Vlad Plahotniuc and Ilan Șor take revenge on President Igor Dodon, Democratic MP Nicolae Ciubuc was quoted by IPN as saying in the talk show “Expertise Hour” on Jurnal TV channel.
“What is happening now inside the PDM has nothing to do with the ideology and activity of the party or the qualities of a leader or a member of the party. Given this settling of an old score with President Dodon, some try to destabilize the situation by simply attracting MPs of the Democratic Party, discrediting the idea of European integration and the formation of a pro-European coalition,” stated the Democratic MP.
According to Nicolae Ciubuc, the MPs of the Shor Party and the parliamentary group “Pro Moldova” represent two groupings whose goal is destroy the Democratic Party and destabilize the political situation in the country. During several days, some of the members of the Shor Party had contacted Democratic MPs so as to have a discussion with them.
MP of the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform” Igor Munteanu said the current government continues to make mistakes in the public health system, the economic sector and the discussions between the MPs could thus intensify.
“We are now in the situation in which the Republic of Moldova needs another government. That’s why they insist on the meetings with Shor and I think not only with Shor. Other groups also try to have meetings with MPs of the Democratic Party. We are moving towards another balance and this balance is related to the formation of another government, the removal of the current government and the creation of an agenda that would save this country,” stated Igor Munteanu.
As to the situation in which the PDM is now, the MP said the power of this party has always been related to money
“We are witnessing now the bleeding of a political party that had a lot of influence and that concentrated all the power of the state in its own hands. It is now attacked from a number of parts. It should now not shift the blame on others and should see why the MPs leave it in such a large number and determine what unites the MPs in the Democratic Party. It does not go to ideology. The Democratic Party’s ideology has always been week even if it presents itself as a party of the left. The force of this party was related to a lot of money and to this hierarchical organization of Plahotniuc. The Democratic Party does not have a leadership that could unite the party,” stated MP Igor Munteanu.
Denis Ulanov, MP of the Shor Party, noted that the Democratic Party turned into a branch of the Party of Socialists. “The Democratic MPs became a ‘voting button’ for the PSRM,” he stated.
