The Liberal-Democratic and Communist lawmakers pushed each other in the Parliament’s hall when Minister of the Interior Dorin Recean tried to make statement for the press over the bill concerning the setting up of checkpoints along the Nistru River, IPN reports.

The Communist MPs prevented the minister from speaking by blocking the rostrum and making noise. For their part, the Lib-Dems tried to stop them and the situation went out of control.

When Dorin Recean was speaking on the microphone in Parliament, Communist MP Grigore Petrenco came near and, using a loudspeaker, didn’t allow him to answer the questions. The head of the Liberal-Democratic parliamentary group Valeriu Strelet wanted to stop him, but more Communist MPs approached and pushed Strelet. His Liberal-Democratic colleagues came to his aid.

The squabble lasted for about 10 minutes. Afterward, the MPs dispersed.

The bill that caused altercations was passed by Parliament in the first reading.
