The aggressive behavior of some of the opposition lawmakers shows the mentality and level of culture of the whole society, MPs of the government coalition said in the program “Fabrika” on Publika TV channel, IPN reports.

The president of honor of the Democratic Party Dumitru Diacov considers there is no yet tradition of parliamentary behavior. “We founded the Republic of Moldova 20 years ago, but we haven’t yet founded a nation. There is no political tradition and culture. We now have the task of creating these values,” he stated.

The head of the Liberal Reformist Party Ion Hadarca said the quality of the Communist MPs is dubious and these lawmakers don’t even realize what parliamentarianism is.

On the other hand, the chairman of the Liberal-Democratic parliamentary group Valeriu Strelet stated that things have improved. “We have seen certain progress during the last session. There was only one case of use of force in Parliament, when Communist MP Petcov attacked Deputy Speaker Sergiu Sarbu. The situation improved because we have a new hall that meets the conditions and every MP has a microphone. So, the lawmakers don’t need to queue up at the microphone to speak. This was often a reason for altercations between lawmakers,” he said.

The program’s permanent invitee, journalist Cristian Tabara said Parliament is profoundly divided, as Moldovan society is. “A change of mentality is needed. When this happens, the cases of use of violence in Parliament will disappear,” he stated.
