The lawmakers Thursday observed a minute’s silence in memory of the National Opera Prima Donna Maria Biesu, who died from an incurable disease on May 16, Info-Prim Neo reports. In the sitting, Head of Parliament Marian Lupu said the passing away of Maria Biesu is a great sorrow for Moldova. Maria Biesu will be buried on May 19. Her coffin will be laid at the National Opera House in Chisinau and all those who want can bid farewell to her. A governmental commission headed by Prime Minister Vlad Filat was empowered to organize the funeral. Maria Biesu was born on August 3, 1935 in Volintiri village, Stefan Voda district. This year she would have turned 77.
