The MPs of the PSRM, PDM and PPPDA are sure that the Parliament’s first attempt to vote in the Gavrilița Government will fail. The Democrats and the representatives of the PPPDA consider a new parliamentary majority that would nominate a candidate for Prime Minister was already negotiated, while the Socialists deny having allied with the Shor Party for voting in the new Government, IPN reports.
The representatives of the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform” believe the coming of Natalia Gavrilița to Parliament to ask for a vote of confidence is nothing else but a mimicked constitutional exercise. According to them, the stake is the second attempt to vote in the Government.
“Those from the Shor Party already started to look for votes in other groups so as to formalize a majority not under the aegis of Dodon as Shor now has more influence together with Plahotniuc and more money. By the model designed earlier by Plahoniuc, a majority of 51 MPs will be formed to propose a candidate who is not suspected of being corrupt,” Deputy Speaker of Parliament Alexandru Slusari, PPPDA MP, stated in the talk show “Emphasis on Today” on TVR Moldova channel.
The Socialist say yet they didn’t form a coalition with the parliamentary platform “For Moldova”, but admit that a Government can be installed after the first attempt to vote in the Gavrilița Government fails.
“Most probably, the first attempt to invest the Gavrilița Government will fail. There are few chances that this will be voted in. After the first attempt, there will be made one more attempt and we will then see who is sincere and who is not. Many of those who say they want snap elections actually do not want them. That’s why I anticipate a formal or informal coalition between the PPPDA, the Democrats, Pro Moldova and the PAS. Why not?” asked Socialist MP Grigore Novac.
The Democrats are sure Natalia Gavrilița’s team will not obtain a vote of confidence from Parliament, but say that the country needs a Government with full powers to manage the economic and pandemic crisis.
“The stake will be the current interim Government, which is controlled by the PSRM, or the formalization of a new majority. The PSRM or the Shor group could also try to formalize a majority and field a candidate for Prime Minister. My fear is that such a candidate will not be accepted by Maia Sandu and a new confrontation will appear as a result. But the PSRM wants something like this,” said Democratic MP Nicolae Ciubuc.
The candidate for Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița on February 8 submitted the list of Cabinet members proposed by her and her government program to the Parliament’s Secretariat. Under the program, the minimum pension will be raised by 15%, the VAT rate for the hospitality industry will be at most 5%, the elections outside the country will be held during two days and an Anticorruption Tribunal will be set up in Moldova.
