Head of Parliament Igor Corman called on the lawmakers to support the campaign “Revive Moldova” by donating their wage for a day for modernizing the Mother and Child Institute in Chisinau, IPN reports.
At the beginning of the July 10 sitting of Parliament, Igor Corman said that this medical institution is a benchmark for Moldova. It is a place with sentimental value for those whose children were born at this maternity hospital.
The Speaker informed that he asked the legislature’s commission on social protection, health and family, headed MP Vladimir Hotineanu, to support this initiative. Igor Corman visited the institute together with German officials, who pledged to come with projects to support the hospital’s modernization.
The Head of Parliament made the call after the Mother and Child Institute’s director Stefan Gatcan asked the authorities to actively and publicly become involved and support the campaign “Revive Moldova” by addressing the demographic problem and by contributing personally.
The general objective of the campaign is to ensure medical assistance of a high quality for the mothers and children in Moldova,” reads the letter.
Stefan Gatcan said that he decided to call now on the MPs and the members of the Cabinet given that the executive recently approved a series of measures concerning natality and the conditions for mothers and newborns. On June 25, the Government adopted changes to the annex to the national strategic program on demographic security in Moldova for 2011-2025.
The campaign “Revive Moldova” started in April and aims to achieve several objectives with national social impact, including to reduce the risk of giving birth to children with pathological diseases by guaranteeing free access to modern medicine and to provide examinations, treatment and medical assistance of a high quality for women who want to conceive a child and for mothers with little children from all the social classes.
