The lawmakers close the parliamentary activity in 2013 with the right leg. The turning points were the investiture of the Leanca Government and the vote for naming Igor Corman as Head of Parliament. The two diplomats set the tone of the political class in the second half of the year, political analyst Mihai Cernencu has told IPN.

The analyst said that 2013 started the wrong way. The hunting incident in the Domneasca Forest generated the dissolution of the Filat Government and the dismissal of First Deputy Speaker Vlad Plahotniuc. These events led to a political crisis.

“Parliament experienced a number of challenges. In general, it was extremely difficult, but the lucidity and maturity of the political leaders led to the creation of a pro-European coalition and afterward to the initialing of the Association Agreement with the EU, which was the cherry on the cake of the current government,” said the analyst.

As to the opposition, Mihai Cernencu said that it tried by all means to destabilize the situation in Parliament by boycotts, obstructions and censure motions, but unsuccessfully.

“It was a difficult year, but we close it successfully. Only several of the serious problems are yet to be solved. These are the fight against corruption, the justice sector reform and the fight against poverty,” said the analyst.

2014 will also be difficult as it will be an electoral year, with ordinary parliamentary elections. Mihai Cernencu anticipates that in Parliament there will be heard electoral messages and statements. The Government will have to be attentive to the opposition, which will try to destabilize the situation even more and will make electoral statements.

On December 24, Parliament will hold its last sitting this year. The spring-summer session starts in February.
