As of 2022, the standard retirement age for women will be 57 years, while for men – 62 years. For women who gave birth to or educated up to the age of eight five and more children, the retirement age will be 54. This is provided in the amendments to the Law on the Public Pension System that were given two readings by Parliament, IPN reports.

For persons who worked for at least ten full years in special conditions, the standard  retirement age will decrease by five to nine years and six months, depending on the insurance period.

The full insurance period for men will be 33, while for women - 30 years.

The legislative proposal was submitted by a group of Socialist MPs. After the MPs of the Shor Party proposed a similar bill, the two proposals were merged. The provisions are to take effect on January 1, 2022, as the Socialists’ bill provides.

The MPs of the PAS, PPPDA and PDM weren’t present in the assembly hall when the given bill was put to the vote. They left earlier, saying the agenda of today’s sitting wasn’t consulted with them and was “toxic”. The MPs of Pro Moldova also left the hall, making reference to the items from the agenda.
