The Ministry of Transport and Road Infrastructure on April 1 launched the electronic service Mpay that is designed for carriers. The service allows paying for the authorizations issued by the National Agency for Road Transport by several methods, such as bank cards, payment terminals, e-banking systems and in cash, IPN reports.

Minister of Transport Vasile Botnari said the service is an instrument for reducing bureaucracy. In several months, the applicants will be able to ask for authorizations online.

Vladimir Florea, head of the International Association of Road Haulers of Moldova, said the carriers have long waited for this service and for the “E-authorization” service as they reduce the time spent queuing up at offices and transferring money.

“Until now, the procedure for paying for authorizations lasted for two-three days, being possible only during working hours. Now the payment can be made in several minutes and at any time, which is an advantage for the carriers,” said the executive director of the Union of Carriers and Road Workers Eugen Datsko.

The Mpay service can be accessed by over 1,500 carriers and about 1,100 private individuals that now pay for authorizations by transfer or, in the case of individuals, by depositing money at banks.

Annually, the National Agency for Road Transport issues carriers and private individuals with about 95,000 authorizations and certificates costing approximately 40 million lei. Daily, the Agency’s one stop shop receives over 100 applications for authorizations and certificates needed for transportation activities.
