The proposal concerning the modification of the Parliament’s regulations that was submitted by MP Vladimir Turcan will be debated at April 23 sitting of the legislative body. “But we cannot promise that it will be accepted,” First Deputy Speaker Serafim Urecheanu said during the program “Politics Live” on the public television channel Moldova 1, Info-Prim Neo reports. During the same program, Vladimir Turcan, the president of the United Moldova Party, said he filed the initiative two months ago. “If the regulations are amended, we (the representatives of the United Moldova Party in the Parliament – e.n.) will be able to set up a faction because we are five, as the law requires. We want this issue to be included in the agenda,” the MP said. According to Vladimir Turcan, if the representatives of the United Moldova Party constitute a group in the Parliament, they will obtain the right to field candidates for presidency, speaker, deputy speaker and other positions. The unaffiliated MP said in other countries, it is not laid down that the parliamentary groups can be created only during the first days of the constitution of the Parliament. On the other hand, Serafim Urecheanu, the leader of the Moldova Noastra Alliance, said in those countries the MPs who left a faction cannot join another party. The group of unaffiliated MPs representing the United Moldova Party comprises five former Communist MPs – Vladimir Turcan, Victor Stepaniuc, Valentin Guznac, Ludmila Belchenkova and Svetlana Rusu.
