MP Victoria Cazacu, who entered Parliament on the ticket of the Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS), but was excluded from the party this April following a corruption scandal involving her daughter, on Tuesday announced her decision to join Our Party led by Renato Usatyi, who is running in the October 20 presidential election, IPN reports.
“I felt firsthand what televised justice means. Unfortunately, many in the country’s administration are not interested in the truth. In recent months, I had a number of discussions with colleagues with whom I worked in the PAS. Most of these people, both from Chisinau and from the north of the country, recommended me to continue my work together with Renato Usatyi, the chairman of Our Party,” Victoria Cazacu said at a press briefing.
The parliamentarian praised Renato Usatyi, noting that he is a man who cares about all the citizens of Moldova and that he proved it with deeds, and not just once. “As for the PAS, it started nicely, but the way it is governed and how decisions within it are taken attracts a lot of dissatisfaction. There are dissatisfied persons in the parliamentary group and even more in the local organizations,” stated Victoria Cazacu.
The MP said that the Republic of Moldova needs a strong and responsible President, who will unite the people and protect the citizens. She expressed her conviction that Renato Usatyi is the right person for this position.
In April this year, the National Anticorruption Center raided the Chisinau International Airport in a corruption and bribery case. Among the customs officers investigated was the daughter of the parliamentarian. After the scandal broke out, the PAS excluded Victoria Cazacu from the party and asked her to resign, but the parliamentarian refused to vacate her seat of MP.
