MP Marina Tauber, who was recently stripped of parliamentary immunity, will appear before judges for interference with the administration of justice. The Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office said that it had sent this criminal case to court, IPN reports.

The criminal case was initiated on May 2, 2023 by the interim prosecutor general based on a notification from the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office. On April 12, 2023, the MP, using her position and aiming to prevent the examination of the criminal case against Ilan Shor, interfered with the trial at the Chisinau Court of Appeala. Marina Tauber entered the courtroom with a loudspeaker and delivered offensive and threatening messages to the panel of judges and the state prosecutor.

Also, according to prosecutors, Marina Tauber threatened the panel of judges with blocking the judicial process by saying that 3,000 supporters were waiting outside. As a result, the judges had to interrupt the hearing and withdraw from the courtroom, subsequently describing her behavior as actions aimed at disrupting the hearing.

On March 14, 2024, Parliament approved the lifting of MP Marina Tauber’s immunity for the criminal case started against her to be sent to court.

The defendant denied any wrongdoing. The criminal case was sent to the Buiucani Court of Chisinau City for examination. If found guilty of interference with the judicial process, she will be punished with at most four years in prison or with a fine of 37,500 to 47,500 lei, in both cases with ban on holding particular positions or performing a particular activity for a period of up to three years.

Marina Tauber was also stripped of parliamentary immunity in other criminal cases. One of the criminal cases against her is under investigation and the MP was charged in this. In another case, the investigation was discontinued on the grounds that the act did not contain elements of a crime. Another criminal case accusing Marina Tauber and the legal entity “Shor Political Party” was remitted to court.
