MP of the Action and Solidarity Party group, the ACUM bloc, Mihai Popșoi, is of the opinion that the low turnout at the polls is due to the fact that people are tired of so many ballots. After the closure of the polling stations, the Central Election Commission announced that 41.68% of the voters had participated in the elections, IPN reports.

"I would put this low presence on account of the period during which the elections were organized, but also on the fatigue of the voters, who are too often asked to cast their vote. There is a series of objective factors, among which the fatigue of the electorate. Last year we had elections for Chisinau and parliamentary elections. So, these are the third elections for Chisinau and the second for the rest of the country in less than one year and this obviously leaves a mark on the electorate," said Mihai Popșoi, on the Pro TV sound stage. The MP maintains the voter turnout was a good one, but it could have been even higher.

The Democratic MP Sergiu Sîrbu has mentioned that the outcome for the PDM in Chisinau was slightly better than four years ago. At the same time, the Democrat says that the PDM has much to do in the capital in order to attract the voters. Sergiu Sîrbu has dodged the question for whom the PDM will urge citizens to vote in the second round in Chisinau. "We will consider this within the party. We have to decide and we have to see what the results are. We'll see if any candidate, actually, deserves our support, "the parliamentarian said.

As to the formation of the Chisinau Municipal Council, Sergiu Sîrbu says that an alliance will be needed because there is no clear majority. "If the PSRM and ACUM join forces as they did in the Parliament, then we’ll see what the voters say," the MP continued.

According to the latest data presented on the CEC page after the processing of 306 minutes of the 307 in Chisinau, preliminary results indicate that Ion Ceban, the PSRM candidate, obtained 40.16% of the votes, while the candidate of ACUM bloc Andrei Năstase - 31.09% of the votes. At the same time, after the processing of 304 minutes out of the 307, 37% of the voters voted for the Socialist candidates for councillor positions, 33.27% - for those of ACUM bloc, 6.36% - for the Liberal Party, 4% - for PDM members, 3.85% - for Șor Party candidates and 2.78% for PUN candidates.
