MP Ion Ceban, who has recently left the parliamentary group of the Communist Party (PCRM), suggested that more members will leave the party. He made related statements in a press briefing on October 9, where he confirmed his decision to join the Party of Socialists headed by Igor Dodon, Info-Prim Neo reports. Ion Cebanu said the reactions that appeared after he defected from the PCRM are unfounded. ”Some of my former colleagues invoked groundless arguments. My mother hasn’t had criminal cases and hasn’t been the reason why I left the PCRM. It is very important to note that I wasn’t blackmailed or pressurized. It was a conscious decision that I took by myself. The fact that I was attacked by former colleagues is unpleasant to me,” he stated. He stressed that two things made him leave the Communist Party. “The first thing is the situation inside the PCRM, but I do not intend to disparage those with whom I worked. The second is the tactics used by the party. Many members are bewildered and do not understand what’s going on. I think that more defections from the PCRM will follow,” said the MP. Socialist leader Igor Dodon said that Ion Ceban will form part of the team of Socialists who prepare a strategy for overcoming the social and economic problems faced by the country. “Unlike other parties, we do not have posts and money to stimulate somebody. Those who want to join us, do it. The Party of Socialists becomes stronger as our ranks are joined by specialists who know how to solve the country’s problems,” he said. Ion Ceban announced his defection from the Party of Communists on September 28. Another six lawmakers left the PCRM earlier. These are: Igor Dodon, Zinaida Greceanyi and Veronica Abramchuc one year ago, and Vadim Misin, Tatiana Botnariuc and Oleg Babenko at the start of summer. The Communist faction now includes 35 MPs.
