Communist MP Grigore Petrenco accuses the Prosecutor General’s Office of starting a criminal case against him by a political order. He said he was summoned to the Prosecutor’s Office as a suspect, based on an application filed by the National Integrity Commission, for the reason that he didn’t declare all his possessions, IPN reports.

The Communist faction took a break of almost two hours and then asked inviting Prosecutor General Corneliu Gurin to the Parliament’s sitting, but their request was rejected by the parliamentary majority.

Grigore Petrenco demanded that the prosecutor general should say who ordered starting a criminal case against him. Under the Parliament’s regulations, a lawmaker cannot be arrested or brought to justice if his/her parliamentary immunity wasn’t withdrawn. The regulations say nothing yet about hearings.

According to the National Integrity Commission, Grigore Petrenco didn’t declare the shares he owns in a firm. The MP was to be questioned this morning, March 27, but he didn’t present himself at the Prosecutor’s Office.
