PPPDA MP Liviu Vovc filed an application to the Government, asking this to identify solutions so that June 1 is declared a nonworking day, IPN reports, quoting a press release of the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform”.

“The parents should be aware that the time spent with their children is very important and the way in which they interact with them can play a decisive role in the subsequent development of the child. The program of interaction with children most of the times becomes one more thing that is added to the to do list, but the time spent with the children on the weekends and during vacations does not compensate for the insufficient attention devoted to them during the rest of the time,” said the MP.

Under the Parliament Decision of 2016, June 1, when it is celebrated International Children’s Day, is a nonworking day. But the nonworking days are enumerated in Article 111 of the Labor Code and this article wasn’t modified together with the amendment of the Parliament Decision.

“I think it is important to amend the Labor Code, but this process necessitates more time and a plenary sitting of Parliament needs to be convoked,” stated Liviu Vovc.

The PPPDA earlier today asked that a Parliament sitting should be called for May 29. The PPPDA MPs said they tested negative for COVID-19 and can thus return to work.
