Candidates standing for parliamentary elections are required by the Election Code to suspend their professional activity for the duration of the campaign. The Central Election Commission (CEC) will start receiving such applications today, June 23, with a deadline set for June 26, Info-Prim Neo reports. At its meeting on June 22, the CEC approved the final order of the electoral contestants in the ballot papers, where the Communists Party (PCRM) will stand at number one, followed, in descending order, by the Christian Democratic People's Party (PPCD), the Moldova Noastra Alliance (AMN), the Liberal Party (PL), and the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM). The Democratic Party (PDM) is closing the list at number 6. No other contestants have registered with the CEC yet, but the list of participants will remain open until July 7. The CEC also approved on Monday the electoral symbols of the contestants. Of the registered parties, only the PDM changed its emblem in the ballot paper by adding to its traditional three roses the capitalized inscription “M. LUPU”. Holders of multiple citizenship as well as applicants for the citizenship of another country are present on the lists of candidates. After approving the registration of the candidates, CEC president Eugeniu Stirbu urged them to show tolerance to one another.
