The picture “Wedding in Bessarabia”, which is a Romania-Moldova-Luxemburg co-production, will be shown in Chisinau at the Cultural Center “Gaudeamus” during September 16-22, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The movie is about a young conductor from Bucharest and a female pianist from Chisinau who married recently in Romania. The two were forced to organize one more wedding party in Bessarabia so as to collect money from the bride’s relatives to pay the advance for an apartment.
The second wedding became an occasion for rivalry between the relatives of the young persons. The different wedding customs and traditions contributed to the worsening of the situation. Though the bride and groom are trying to detach themselves from what was going on, they soon realized that the differences in education, culture and political orientation endangered their love.
The picture was made by the studios “Mediana Communication” Timisoara, “OWH Studio” Chisinau and “Donat Etienne” Luxemburg, under the direction of Napoleon Helmis. The cast includes actors Vlad Logigan, Victoria Bobu, Constantin Florescu, and Igor Chistol. The movie won the Special Jury Prize at the Black Nights Festival in Tallinn, Estonia.
The film will be premiered in Chisinau on September 16. Lidia Troianowski, the manager of the Cultural Center “Gaudeamus”, told Info-Prim Neo that the tickets are available from the theater’s booking offices for 20 to 40 lei.
