The Movement of Transnistrian Refugees plans new protests as the Chisinau authorities have not fulfilled the promise to start allocating apartments in the building erected on 21/5 Milescu Spataru St to internally displaced people, the Movement's president Anatol Bazgu told Info-Prim Neo. “We will take legal actions to defend our rights,” he said. According to Bazgu, the Movement submitted all the necessary documents, validated by the notary, to the Chisinau City Hall during May-June this year. “The building was finished, but the Chisinau administration has not yet examined the applications filed by the refugees,” Anatol Bazgu said, adding that they will stage protests by the end of December. “We will also hold a news conference and will complain to the European Court of Human Rights. “The internally displaced people from the Transnistrian region live in rented accommodation and expect to be allocated apartments. We wrote letters to the local authorities, asking that they examine our applications, but they only promise and do nothing,” Anatol Bazgu said. On the other hand, deputy mayor of Chisinau Vlad Cotet stated for Info-Prim Neo that all the applications have been processed, but the lists of the new owners must be confirmed. Valeriu Didencu, secretary of the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC), said the lists have not been drawn up yet, but they would be soon made so that the families of refugee could move to the new apartments by the end of this year. The issue of internally displaced people entitled to apartments was to be discussed at Friday's meeting of the CMC, but the councilors did not return to the assembly hall after the break. In 2004, the Government of Moldova adopted a plan of action for providing the internally displaced people with apartments. The CMC allocated two plots of land in Ciocana district on which there were erected two buildings. One of the buildings was put in commission, while the second one located on Milescu Spataru St has been finished recently.
