“The Movement of Transnistrian Refugees' actions are nothing but mockery and disrespect to the municipality of Chisinau,” municipal council Oleg Cernei, who heads the City Council's dwellings and public amenities division, said, condemning the abusive occupation of apartments in the building located on Milescu Spataru street, which is intended for Transnistria refugees, Info-Prim Neo reports. At the commission's meeting on January 28, Oleg Cernei said the refugees did not meet all the required conditions before moving to the new apartments. “First of all, the building must be transferred under the administration of the General Public Amenities Division, which is to issue permits allowing those entitled to move to the apartments,” Cernei said, adding that the City Council cannot distribute apartments in a block that is not managed by the given division. “They show total disrespect for the Mayor General and the Chisinau Council. We invested money and attracted investments and they knew that the building was erected namely for them,” the councilor said. On November 22, 2009, the City Council accepted the applications for apartments of 63 refugees of the 80 included in the list. Oleg Cernei said the applications of the other 17 internally displaced persons were rejected owing to some obscurities. Six of them might not receive apartments in that building as they served in the “Fulger” regiment and are entitled to apartments in the block situated on Liviu Deleanu St. Attending the meeting, the head of the Movement of Transnistrian Refugees Anatol Bazgu said he doubts it that these persons will be distributed apartments in the building located on Liviu Deleanu St, but stressed that they will wait for deeds. He said the persons who moved to the new apartments will pay all the bills. Oleg Cernei said on Friday, January 29, he and representatives of the Constructions Division and the General Public Amenities Division will pay a fact-finding visit to the block on Milescu-Spataru St and will raise the issue again at the City Council's meeting later the same day.
