The MOVE project launched in September 2008 was officially presented in Moldova on January 17. It is aimed at the psychosocial development of children through games and sport and is implemented by the Representative Office of the Swiss foundation Terre des Hommes in Moldova, funded by the UEFA. The project is carried out in four countries of intervention in Central and South Eastern Europe -Albania, Kosovo, Moldova and Romania, Info-Prim Neo reports.
During the launch of the project in Chisinau, project manager Alexei Tarasenco said that the promoted activities are a tool for improving the emotional state of the children and for preventing exploitation. “On an individual level these activities enable the children to reinforce their own personal and social capacities and on a more global level, they support reintegration of the children into their family, local community and/or school system,” Alexei Tarasenco said.
He also said that the games and sport can help increase trust in one’s own forces and promote tolerance, respect, cooperation, honesty, creativity, responsibility, discipline.
The project goes through 3 phases: a two-week training focused on methodology and psychosocial topics, through practice and games; a six-week coaching period including individual coaching visits in the field and group supervisions; three replication sessions with peers within six months.
According to the delegate of Terre des Hommes in Moldova Alfonso Gonzalez – Jaggli, sport events will be organized in every country involving parents and communities. Micro-initiatives will be supported for the rehabilitation of sport facilities in schools or local associations, as well as micro-grants for recreational equipment in order to improve the environment of the most disadvantaged communities.
Terre des Hommes, Lausanne, is a Swiss organization that defends children’s rights in 32 countries of the worlds. It promotes the respect for the principles of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and carries out activities in close cooperation with the parents, community members, authorities and civil society.
