The drivers are strongly recommended to bypass the sloping streets in Chisinau given the unfavorable weather conditions. These are the streets Ganea, Timis, Postei, Vadul lui Voda, Paris and Causeni and the bystreet Uzinelor. The motorists are also urged to travel prudently and to allow snowplows to clear the streets, IPN reports.

The Chisinau City Hall said the snow clearing services started work early in the morning. A number of 24 vehicles are spreading antiskid material to prevent the formation of ice on the roadway. When traffic disperses a little, workers of the road maintenance company “Exdrupo” will involve all the available pieces of equipment. The main arteries used by public transport and the access ways to suburbs are cleared the first.

Employees of the Housing Division use 12 Hako machines and 23 tractors. Since 6am, 500 road sweepers have removed the snow from public transport stations, crosswalks, entrances to blocks, waste platforms and sidewalks.

According to the local authorities, the public transport travels according to the normal program. As many as 300 trolleybuses and 98 buses are now running on routes in Chisinau.

The drivers are urged to avoid parking the cars by the roadside and at entrances to apartment buildings so as not to hamper the snowplows.
