Motorists can change old licenses for new ones from autumn

The motorists that want can change their drivers’ licenses for new-type licenses from this autumn. From 2011, the relevant authorities will issue only licenses of the new type. The old ones, issued by this date, will still be valid, but only on Moldova’s territory, Info-Prim Neo reports. The new models are used in over 60 countries that are members of the UN Convention on Road Traffic. According to the Deputy Minister of Information Development Oleg Rotaru, the subcategories AI, A2, BI CI DI CIE DIE will be implemented simultaneously with the new type of licenses at national level, on the basis of the categories A, B, C, D, E BE, CE, DE. The system for preparing specialists in the area of road transport will be also reorganized. The price of a driver’s license of the new type has not been fixed yet, but it was earlier announced that it will not be higher than the old one and will be about 15 euros.
