A motorcyclist aged 29 from Hancesti district tried to overtake a car and, moving to the contraflow lane, collided with another vehicle. It happened near Bardar village of Ialoveni district. The motorcyclist didn’t survive. The National Patrolling Inspectorate warns the motorcyclists to be more attentive in traffic, IPN reports.

The police said the main causes of accidents involving motorcycles are speeding, driving under the influence, not giving way, overtaking without making sure it is safe and the too small distance between vehicles. The largest number of motorcyclists who died in accidents didn’t wear a crash helmet.

A number of 62 accidents involving motorcyclists happened in Moldova so far this year. They resulted in nine deaths. The National Patrolling Inspectorate recommends the motorcyclists to use the appropriate equipment and wear reflectors at night and to be very careful when turning or at intersections.
