The Association “Motivație” of Moldova has strengthened its capacities to provide assisted employment services for persons with disabilities. Since May until present, almost 70 persons with disabilities were engaged in different training courses and 29 of them managed to get employed.

In a news conference at IPN, Ludmila Iachim, executive director of “Motivație” Association, said the implementation period of the project “Employment of Persons with Disabilities by Promoting Assisted Employment Services” is May 13 – December 10. This focused on two major objectives, one of them being to strengthen the Association’s capacities to provide assisted employment services.

Among the achieved results are the involvement of representatives of “Motivație” in the working out of the curriculum and of the professional training program, provision of technical assistance to the National Council for the Accreditation of Social Service Providers in compiling the file of self-assessment of assisted employment services for persons with disabilities, and offering of expertise to the Ministry of Labor Social Protection in the designing of the Methodological Guide on assisted employment.

As part of the project, they exchanged experience in assisted employment with Austria and Israel. The conference hall of “Motivație” was outfitted with modern equipment for holding online meetings with persons with disabilities and major stakeholders. There were held multiple information and coaching sessions for almost 70 persons with disabilities and family members. A professional training course was staged for the Bălți-based association CASMED.

Ludmila Iachim noted that another important objective of the project was to promote and implement assisted employment services for persons with disabilities in accordance with the new legal framework and the best assisted employment services. There were made a video about assisted employment and an infographic that were broadcast on TV and compiled and distributed newscasts, success stories of employed persons, podcasts and articles to promote the activities of the project.

A new specialist in assisted employment in Taraclia town could be recruited as part of the project. This is Maria Caireac. The specialist said she is very glad that she can help persons with disabilities. After she became involved in this project, she better realized the needs of these persons. The reluctance of some of the employers or the hyper-tutelage of parents or guardians makes these people unconfident. She helps them to overcome this feeling and guides them in this process that is new for them.

The project “Employment of Persons with Disabilities by Promoting Assisted Employment Services” is implemented with support from the project “Economic Policy Advice to the Moldovan Government” that is carried out by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ).

“We consider the sustainable economic development should be based also on the needs of persons from these groups. This way, our approach combines counseling in policies, promotion and attraction of investment and support for the vulnerable ones. We are pleased that we managed to contribute to the creation of more than 8,000 jobs with financing from the Government of Germany and Switzerland, including several hundred jobs for vulnerable persons. We are glad that we could support the Government and the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection to develop the legal framework for implementing the assisted employment mechanism,” said Olesea Ghedrovici, manager of the policy component of the “Economic Policy Advice to the Moldovan Government” project.
