Two deputies of the People's Assembly of Gagauzia have submitted a motion to initiate a vote of no confidence against the Executive Committee, led by Governor Evghenia Gutul, reports IPN's correspondent from the region.

The signatories justified their motion by stating that the Executive Committee is "failing, and Gagauzia is suffering losses".

The two deputies, Alexandru Tarnavschi and Mihail Jelezoglo, presented several arguments supporting the resignation of the Executive Committee.

The document has been sent to the President of the People's Assembly, Dmitri Constantinov, requesting him to begin collecting signatures from deputies to initiate the no-confidence vote procedure against the Executive Committee.

The motion's signatories argue that under Evghenia Guțul's leadership, Gagauzia's budget revenues are declining. In 2024, revenues are expected to decrease by 39 million lei (or 10 million lei, excluding VAT refunds) compared to 2023.

According to the current legislation, the People's Assembly can consider a no-confidence vote against the Executive Committee if proposed by at least one-third of the deputies. However, the decision requires a majority vote.

Discussions regarding the Executive Committee's resignation began during the People's Assembly session on March 14. Deputies expressed dissatisfaction with the Executive Committee's rejection of several proposals, including an increase in the Fund for supporting children in need of expensive surgical interventions.
