A man aged 46 and his mother of 74 from Mingir village of Hancesti district were found dead in their cellar in the morning of October 7. According to preliminary inquiries, the two poisoned themselves with carbon dioxide emitted by fermenting wine, IPN reports.

The call to the 901 service was made by locals towards morning. When on the spot, the rescuers, dressed in protection suits, took the bodies out of the cellar.

It is alleged that the victims entered the cellar yesterday evening. The circumstances of this incident and the cause of death are yet to be determined. Rescuers warn the population about the danger of carbon dioxide poisoning while the wine is fermenting. They recommend airing the cellars and checking their ventilation passages.

According to the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service, four persons poisoned themselves with carbon dioxide so far this autumn.
