If the Prime Minister was elected by the people, most of the votes would be won by the current Premier Iurie Leanca. According to an opinion poll carried out by the Marketing and Polling Institute IMAS, almost 30% of the respondents would vote for Iurie Leanca as Premier. The poll was commissioned by IPN News Agency.
The leader of the Communist Party Vladimir Voronin would be elected Prime Minister by 16.2% of those polled, Mayor General of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca – by 8.4%, former Prime Minister and current leader of the Liberal Democratic Party Vlad Filat – by 8%, the chairman of the Democratic Party Marian Lupu – by 6.6%, while his party colleague Igor Corman, current Parliament Speaker – by 3.7%.
Asked about whom of the politicians they heard, almost 100% of the respondents said they heard about Vladimir Voronin, Vlad Filat, Marian Lupu, Mihai Ghimpu, Dorin Chirtoaca, and Iurie Leanca.
As to the fame of parties, over 99% of those surveyed said they heard about the PCRM, 98% about the PLDM, 97.7% about the PDM, while 96% about the PL. Slightly over 93% of the respondents heard about the Pro-European Coalition formed by the PLDM, PDM and PLR.
Asked if they will take part in this autumn’s elections, 53% of those questioned said they will surely go to the polls, 25% said they are almost sure they will take part, while 21% said they will probably take part in the elections.
The poll covered a representative sample of 1,032 people older than 18 from 71 settlements and was conducted between September 5 and 22. The margin of sampling error is plus-minus 3%.
