The largest part of the 20 bridges in Chisinau that are managed by the municipality are in an unsatisfactory state and need to be repaired. The situation is most serious in the case of the bridges located on Ismail, Grigore Vieru and Mihai Viteazul streets. The information was presented by the acting head of the Public Transport and Communications Division Vitalie Butucel in the August 20 meeting of officials of municipal services and divisions, IPN reports.
The beams and concrete poles of the bridge on Ismail St, which was built in 1968, are damaged. The utilization period of the hydro-insulation system expired 25 years ago. The same problems have been reported in the case of the bridges situated on Mihai Viteazul St and Grigore Vieru Blvd.
As to the viaduct that connects the Centru and Botanica districts of Chisinau, the three bridges there built in 1933-1988 need repair works locally. The hydro-insulation systems there are also outdated.
The situation is better in the case of the bridge located in Sangera commune of Chisinau municipality that was constructed in 1978. This was last repaired at the start of 2000 and is in a good technical and esthetic state. Only local and maintenance works are now required there.
Vitalie Butucel said the three bridges that are in a more difficult state will be assessed during four-six months and the reconstruction designing works, tender contests and repair works will be planned depending on the assessment results.
