The most active citizens in Moldova are the people aged between 45 and 49. Their activity rate is of 65.4% among the working population, plus the unemployed who count about 1258 thousand people.
According to the National Statistics Bureau, the rural population weight in the first quarter of this year within the economic active population was bigger as compared to the urban population, and represented 54.1%.
The activity rate of the population aged 15 and above is of 42.9%, including among the male population – 46.7% as compared to the women’s rate of 39.5%. Among the urban population the activity rate reached 46.1% as compared to the activity rate among the rural population – 40.5%. The highest activity rate of 65.4% was registered among the people aged between 45 and 49. Among the 15-64 year olds the activity rate is of 47.9%.
At the same time, the working population represented about 1186 thousand people, the male weight equalling actually the women one, the rural average being of 54.8% and the city one being of 45.2%. The employment rate of the population aged 15 and over was of 40.5%, with 43.5% out of it belonging to men and 37.7% to women. As regards the distribution by residency averages, the rate of the working population was of 38.7% among the rural one. The highest employment rate of 62.8% was registered among people aged 50-54. At the same time, the employment rate of the population of working age was of 48.5%.
