The people from the Transnistrian area are very annoyed by a mosquito invasion, Info-Prim Neo's correspondent in the area reports. Local epidemiologists explain the growing number of the insects as a fallout of the last summer floods. Yekaterina Grishchuk from the Hygiene and Epidemiology Center in Tiraspol says 3 types of gnats were discovered in the Transnistrian area in August, one of them being the malaria mosquito. She deems urgent action is required to destroy the colonies of these insects, but there is no money in the local budget. Experts warn that the number of insects can reach a critical level next spring, since the larvae can resists up to 3 three years. A retiree in Tiraspol flared up her house and car after lighting a torch to chase the gnats.
