The Moldovan citizens who are on the territory of Russia, but exceeded the legal period of stay will be able to return to Moldova by avoiding the imposed administrative penalties during January 1 – February 24, 2019, the Federal Migration Service has said in an official note that is quoted by IPN.

As regards the migrants who will return to Moldova, but who were banned from entering Russia based on Articles 26 (points 4 and 8) and 27 (points 12,13,14 and 27) of the migration legislation, the Russian authorities undertake to reexamine the imposed penalties as of February 25 so as to annul or to replace them with milder penalties.

In a posting on Facebook, President Igor Dodon said the provisions apply to about 170,000 citizens in the Republic of Moldova. “This step shows the Russian administration’s openness and special interest in helping our citizens and in developing a strategic partnership with our country in all the areas of mutual interest,” he wrote.

The decision was taken as a result of the agreements reached by Igor Dodon with the President of Russia Vladimir Putin during an official visit paid to Russia during October 31- November 1.
