More tourists come to visit Moldova

The number of tourists who come to Moldova is on the rise. The collective facilities in January-March accommodated 35,800 tourists, 19,500 of whom Moldovans (54.6% of the total number) and 16,300 foreigners (45.4%). Compared with the corresponding period last year, the number of tourists at collective accommodation facilities rose by 11.9% following a 22.4% increase in the number of tourists at sanatoriums and a 19% rise in the number of tourists at hotels and motels, Info-Prim Neo has learned from the National Bureau of Statistics. The tourists at collective accommodation facilities classified according to stars in January-March totaled 21,100 or 58.9% of the total number of tourists, as against 55.5% last year. The Romanian tourists at collective accommodation facilities represented 21.1% of the total number of foreign tourists, the Russian ones – 10.4%, the Ukrainian ones – 9.5%, those from the U.S. – 8.1%, the Turkish ones – 6.5%, the Italian ones – 6.4%, the German ones – 4.2%, the British ones – 3.4%, the French ones – 2.8%, etc. As many as 175,300 tourists stayed at collective accommodation facilities overnight in the period, up 5.2% compared with January-March last year. 82.1% of them were Moldovans. The tourist accommodation capacity net usage rate in January-March was 23.7%, including at sanatoriums – 59.9%, hostels for visitors – 49.6%, hotels and motels – 12.0%, tourist and agritourist pensions – 8.6%, tourist villas, holiday villages and other accommodation facilities – 4.2%, summer camps for students – 0.6%.
