More than 3m people in Moldova use mobile phone services

The users of mobile phone services in Moldova amounted to over 3.427 million, while the mobile phone penetration rate per 100 people rose to 96.3%, the National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology has said, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. The number of mobile phone users in nine months increased by 8.3%, while the mobile phone penetration rate – by 7.5%. The three mobile phone carriers connected more than 197,000 new users to their networks. On September 30, SA Orange Moldova had over 2 million users, SA Moldcell – 1.171 million, while SA Moldtelecom that provides mobile phone services under the brand name “Unite” – 186,600. The monthly average revenue per user (ARPU) dropped by 9.4% compared with the first nine months of last year, to 95.17 lei. The ARPU of SA Orange Moldova was 110.68 lei, of SA Moldcell – 72.3 lei, while of SA Moldtelecom – 62.32 lei. SA Orange Moldova in the period accounted for 70.8% of the market by turnover, SA Moldcell – for 25.8%, while SA Moldtelecom for 3.4%.
