More students taking part in Olympiads

The number of students who compete in municipal and sector Olympiads is increasing. Over 19,000 students took part in Olympiads last year, by 5,000 more than two years ago, the school inspection division’s head Tatiana Mistreanu said in a meeting of the General Division of Education, Youth and Sport. As many as 64 Olympiads in school subjects have taken place this year. More than 10,000 first-twelfth graders took part in the sector stages. Most of the students participated in the Olympiads in math, geography, history, and ecology, and represented the high schools “Prometeu”, “Gheorghe Asachi”, “Nicolae Iorga”, “Mircea Eliade”, “Ion Creanga”, “Mihai Berezovschi”, “Mihai Eminescu”, and “Dmitri Cantemir”. In the international Olympiads last year, the Moldovan students won 30 first, second and third places.
