A number of new traffic circles will soon appear in Chisinau on a temporary basis. Mayor General Dorin Chirtoaca instructed the officials in charge to set up at least several temporary rotaries by Easter so as to determine the efficiency of the planned traffic circles. The National Patrolling Inspectorate gave the go-ahead for some of the new rotaries, IPN reports.

Though the traffic circles were to be initially built up with gravel and floristic elements, the municipal authorities estimated that such a method will be costly, including because these should be afterward maintained.

Dorin Chirtoaca suggested laying out the rotaries in a simple way, with bushes and grass, and possibly with the national flag given that Moldova this year will celebrate 25 years of independence.

At end-February, the Chisinau administration announced that a number of rotaries will be set up in the capital city, including at the intersection of the streets Calea Orheiului and Studentilor, Pelivan and Tudor Vladimirescu, Ciuflea and Constantin Negruzzi, and Pushkin and Albisoara.
