A draft amendment to the rules of providing government funding to cultural projects implemented by NGOs proposes doubling the maximum amount that can be requested to 200,000 lei, as well as an increase in the government share from 50% to 80%. The proposals are being put up for public consultation.
It is also proposed to make eligible all non-profits, not just the organizations that are defined under Moldovan law as public associations. Additionally, a minimum score could be introduced to select eligible projects and thus increase their overall quality. More thematic categories could be added for the projects.
During the years 2019-2021 the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research can spend 5 million lei a year on such projects.
