In the city of Cahul, in the south of the country, lighting networks will be modernized and extended over a length of 87.6 km. More than 700 poles will be installed, along with nearly 2,400 LED lighting fixtures. To ensure efficient remote control of public lighting operation and maintenance, a telemanagement system will be implemented, IPN reports.

The project aims to improve traffic safety, individual security, and enhance the daily comfort of approximately 40,000 residents, authorities state.

"This project is just a first step, followed by other initiatives for modernizing water and sewage infrastructure, road rehabilitation, and improving living conditions for residents," said Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development, Vladimir Bolea, during a working visit to Cahul.

The total cost of the works amounts to 38.4 million lei, of which 33.7 million comes from the National Fund for Regional and Local Development, while nearly 5 million is the contribution of Cahul Municipality. The works are expected to last approximately 12 months.
