The costs for individual prostheses and consumables needed for the prosthetic rehabilitation of patients with head and neck cancers and tumors of the musculoskeletal system will be covered with money from the medical health insurance funds. The Government endorsed a relevant amendment to the Law on Health Protection, IPN reports.
The bill is a legislative initiative of MP Valentina Stratan. The prostheses, which will be offered free to patients, will be made in the laboratory of the Oncology Institute that was opened with the financial support of foreign partners.
About 100 persons with head and neck cancers and about 50 persons with tumors of the osteoarticular
system are operated at the Oncology Institute annually.
Earlier, the Cabinet approved a bill to cover the breast reconstruction costs for women operated for breast cancer with money from the medical health insurance funds.
