In the first six months of the year, the Tiraspol commission for protection of minors kept a record on 300 underage youth, 30 more than in the same period of last year, Olivia Press news agency reports on its webpage, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. Deputy director of the commission Marina Sidorova said that a large number of minors were kept a record on because of the consumption of alcohol. 185 cases were recorded this year, compared to last year’s 108. The minors on record come from socially vulnerable families, in which parents abandon their children or leave them without watch at late hours. Sidorova added that both the number of cases of hooliganism committed by minors and the number of disadvantaged families increased last year. In the Transnistrian region, according to the so-called laws enforced by the Tiraspol administration, parents can be fined with 250 rubles (212 lei) if their children are caught drunk.
