307.6 million passengers traveled by public transport in 2024, up 12.5% from the previous year. The volume of goods transported also increased by 2.2% to 20.2 million tons, according to data from the National Bureau of Statistics, IPN reports.
The rise in the number of passengers using public transport was driven by the increase in the number of passengers carried by air transport by 24.%, by road and electric transport - by 22.9% and 7.8%, respectively.
The number of passengers transported by river transportation remained at the 2023 level, while rail transportation decreased by 23.9%.
Rail passenger transportation in 2024 recorded 589.5 thousand passengers transported, and air transportation - 1561.8 thousand passengers.
In the year 2024, road transportation accounted for 87.2% in the structure of transported goods. It recorded an increase of 12.4% in the volume of goods transported.
Rail transportation, which accounted for 12.1% in the structure of goods transported, marked a 38% decrease in the volume of goods transported. In the case of air transport the increase in the volume of goods transported was 19.5%.
