The three-month moratorium on state inspections, instituted on April 1, 2016 on the initiative of Prime Minister Pavel Filip, will be extended for another three months, until September 30, IPN reports, quoting a Cabinet decision adopted on June 29.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Octavian Calmac reminded that the goal of the moratorium is to create better conditions for entrepreneurial activities. During the almost three months of the institution of the moratorium on state inspections, the functioning of the economic system and the collection of incomes into the national pubic budget haven’t been affected.

The official also said that neither the inspection bodies had objections to the institution of the moratorium. These could make approaches as to the necessity of carrying out inspections on the spot to the Ministry of Economy. In the period, the Ministry received 62 applications for performing inspections on the spot. A number of 42 applications were rejected.

According to Octavian Calmac, this is the last time that the moratorium is extended. He voiced hope that Parliament will also examine and will support the Government’s initiative to reduce the inspection bodies from 30 to 11.

The list of bodies with inspection duties could include the Main State Tax Inspectorate, the Financial Inspectorate, the State Inspectorate for Supervision of Alcoholic Beverages, the State Energy Inspectorate, the State Construction Inspectorate, the Consumer Protection Agency, the National Food Safety Agency, etc. The final list will be published after the Government’s initiative is discussed by Parliament.
