The Government imposed a moratorium on hirings at budget-funded institutions valid until the end of this year, IPN reports.

According to Minister of Finance Octavian Armasu, there were 4,539 vacancies at budget-funded institutions, including schools and hospitals, on August 1. “The moratorium does not mean that if someone from the personnel of an institution retires, a new person will not be employed instead by this yearend. The moratorium refers to the employment figures of the institution. This cannot be increased, but the movement of staff inside this figure will continue,” stated the minister.

A sum of 150 million lei is expected to be saved by this yearend. “When the state budget is rectified in September, the number of reduced vacancies at some of the institutions could be reviewed down, if arguments are provided,” said Octavian Armasu.
