Monument to Lenin in Anenii Noi will be demolished

The monument to Lenin in Anenii Noi will be taken down, Liberal lawmaker Valeriu Munteanu, who submitted an application in this respect to the Anenii Noi district council, says on his blog, Info-Prim Neo reports. Valeriu Munteanu said the monument, which is situated in the square of the Home of Culture of the Anenii Noi district council, not far from Saint Dumitru Church, was set up abusively in 2006, with violations of the legislation, by Communist leaders from the district. In the April 5 meeting of the district council, it was said that a decision for demolishing the monument was already drafted and will be examined on April 12. The councilors decided to implement the decision immediately after its approval so that the faithful could go ‘unsupervised by Lenin’s cold look’ to the church on Easter to bless eggs and other food, said Valeriu Munteanu. The monument will be temporarily stored on the territory adjoining SA “Drumuri Anenii Noi”. The divisions of the Anenii Noi district council are to design the conception of an open-air museum that will contain all the monuments and other symbols of the Communist ideology.
