Monument of Freedom to be erected within 8 months

The Government will disburse from its Reserve Fund 277,000 lei for the installation of the Monument of Freedom which is expected to be erected within 8 months, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to the action plan approved by the Government, the monument will be erected in four stages, including the development of the monument's design, the development of the adjacent land's design, the casting of the monument and, finally, its installation and inauguration. The total cost of erecting the monument was estimated at 7 to 8 million lei. The money allocated by the Government is for financing the initial stages. The concept of the design was already selected in a contest. The winning concept belongs to the late sculptor Tudor Cataraga, who was assisted by a group of architects.
