A monument to poet Dumitru Matcovschi will be built in the bard’s place of birth Vadul-Rascov village of Soldanesti district, IPN reports, quoting a decision approved by the Government.
The monument will be erected near the local home of culture according to a design coordinated with the Ministry of Culture. The costs for building the monument will be covered with money from donations and sponsorships.
The Soldanesti District Council will receive 350,000 lei from the Government’s reserve fund for laying out the adjoining area.
Dumitru Matcovschi wrote over 50 books of poetry, prose and plays. 2014 was declared the Year of Dumitru Matcovschi, who is considered a symbol of the national renaissance movement in Moldova.
