Montenegro to become 47-th member of CoE

On Friday, May 11, the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe (CMCE) will accept the Republic of Montenegro as member of the Council of Europe (CoE), bringing the number of CoE member states to 47. As part of the 117-th session of CMCE, the Presidency of the Republic of San Marino will review the implementation of decisions approved at the Summit in Warsaw in May 2005 and, in particular, relations between CoE and European Union, consolidation of the system of human rights protection etc. At the end of the session, Serbia will take over the Chairmanship of CMCE for a period of six months and will present its priorities for this period. Montenegro proclaimed its independence after the referendum held in May 21, 2006.
