A book about artist and person Maria Biesu will form part of the prestigious collection “Academica” of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova. The monograph “Maria Biesu – Vocation and Artistic Destiny” was launched as part of the 18th International Festival of Opera and Ballet Stars “Maria Biesu Invites”, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The volume was compiled by the Arts Studio of the Cultural Patrimony Institute of the Academy of Sciences. The first part of the book themed “Studies. Syntheses. Interpretations” is scientific, while the second contains reflections and confessions by those who were and will be near Maria Biesu – composers, conductors, writers, soloists and others. The last part of the monograph - “Prima Donna in Pictures” - includes photos of Maria Biesu.
“The Maria Biesu phenomenon is complex. The previous monographs and this one cannot fully explain it. It is to be further developed by the generations to come as Maria Biesu gave us many things – a beautiful voice, fame in the world, and, of course, the festival “Maria Biesu Invites,” poet Iulian Filip stated for Info-Prim Neo.
Doctor in Musicology Victor Ghilas said Maria Biesu is a pillar of the national culture. Moldova became known mainly due to her talent. Though she could go to other countries, she decided to remain in Moldova and promote the national theater.
Attending the launch, the Prima Donna said her house, mother, theater and public are in Moldova. “I'm proud of our theater, especially of our young singers who are real talents,” she said.
The monograph “Maria Biesu – Vocation and Artistic Destiny” is the seventh volume included in the collection “Academica”. Violina Galaicu was coordinator and scientific editor, while Aurelian Danila was in charge of the issue.
