The Deputy Speaker of the Parliament, Democrat MP Monica Babuc, argues that the Democratic Party, even if it voted for the Chicu Government's investiture after voting for the Sandu Government's dismissal, remains in opposition. According to her, the PDM has not given a blank check to the new executive, but she implied that she mostly puts her confidence in Prime Minister Ion Chicu, IPN reports.
The Deputy Speaker of the Parliament maintains that the PDM, which has obtained 30 seats in Parliament through the voters' choice, feels responsible for the citizens of the country on the brink of winter. Monica Babuc says the Democrats could not but support the former executive's initiative to withdraw from governance.
The Deputy Speaker of the Parliament, PPDA MP, Alexandru Slusari, is of the opinion that in the current Government, Ion Chicu will not be the one in charge. The politician suggests that this will be President Igor Dodon. Further, the MP responds to criticisms coming from political opponents such as the allegation that the Government itself intended to leave, noting that the three draft budgets for next year had not been developed so that they could leave governance.
Alexandru Slusari acknowledges that the government established in June should have taken a more radical approach to decision-making but says that there were different barriers within the governing coalition. "I must admit that the PPDA remained in minority when we proposed to make a more fundamental shift and make a Declaration on the captured state, through special laws, at the time when it was very clear that there were only two institutions that had not been captured in this country - the pro-European Parliament and the Government, invested by the majority votes. Unfortunately, we couldn't convince the other colleagues to take this path," said Alexandru Slusari.
